A spiritual journey through time, reclaiming African identity and establishing a profound indigenous spiritual movement that has transformed countless lives.
Explore the JourneyFrom 1914 to 1973, Johane Masowe transformed African spirituality through divine revelation and unwavering faith.
Johane Masowe, originally named Shoniwa Masedza, was born in the Makoni district of Zimbabwe. From his early years, he showed a deep spiritual inclination that would later transform into a revolutionary religious movement.
At age 18, Shoniwa experienced a profound spiritual transformation. He reported receiving divine visions and was called to reject colonial Christianity in favor of an indigenous African spiritual path that would honor ancestral wisdom.
Johane began gathering followers who became known as the vaPostori (Apostles). They adopted distinctive white robes as symbols of purity and spiritual transformation, establishing a visual identity that continues today.
The faithful continue this sacred tradition today, wearing white garments and carrying the staff of spiritual authority.
Johane Masowe's physical departure marked not an end, but a transformation into eternal spiritual guidance. His teachings continue to inspire millions across Africa and beyond through the continuing leadership of anointed servants.
The extraordinary life of a spiritual visionary who transformed African Christianity.
Born in 1914 as Shoniwa Masedza in Gandanzara village, eastern Zimbabwe, he grew up deeply connected to Manyika traditions. In 1932, after suffering severe headaches and visions, he experienced a near-death dream where a burning bush spoke to him, transforming him into Johane Masowe, "John of the Wilderness."
Masowe's revolutionary ministry rejected written scripture and church buildings in favor of direct spiritual revelation and open-air worship. He established the vaPostori, who were distinguished by their white garments, shaven heads, and beards. Despite colonial persecution, his movement grew stronger.
The spiritual authority and divine mission of Johane Masowe continues through Saint Tariro Masawi, the Anointed Commander, born 17th February 1984. As the divinely appointed leader, he channels celestial wisdom and healing power to transform countless lives.
